Controls & Automation Field Service Engineer

US-based | Full-time | Remote when not traveling | Approx. 100 travel days/year

For our client DSI Dantech, a global leader within industrial freezing solutions, we are searching for a Controls & Automation Field Service Engineer.

The Opportunity​

DSI Dantech is looking for a hands-on controls professional to troubleshoot, upgrade, and commission industrial food-processing equipment across North America.

​

You do not need previous experience with DSI equipment or every system used. What matters most is strong electrical and controls fundamentals, PLC troubleshooting skills, and the ability to solve technical problems independently in the field.

​

We will provide training on our equipment and freezer technology.

​​​

What You Will Do

• ​Troubleshoot electrical, PLC, HMI, I/O, sensors, safety circuits, and VFD issues.

• Support upgrades and modernization of existing control systems.

• Perform equipment startups, commissioning, testing, and field-service support.

• Provide onsite and remote technical support to customers and service technicians.

• Identify root causes and recommend practical solutions.

• Read and work from electrical schematics and control-panel drawings.

• Document relevant technical changes and improvements.

What You Bring

We are more interested in your technical capability than your current job title.

​

You may currently work as a Controls Engineer, Controls Technician, Automation Technician, PLC Technician, Electrical Technician, Commissioning Technician, Field Service Technician, or Industrial Electrician.

​

We are looking for:

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with industrial electrical systems, automation, controls, commissioning or field service. We will also consider candidates with less tenure who can demonstrate strong PLC and electrical troubleshooting capabilities.

• Strong PLC and electrical troubleshooting skills, especially with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell PLC.

• Experience working with industrial machinery and controls.

• Ability to read electrical schematics and troubleshoot systematically.

• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with customers.

• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 100 days per year.

• Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer without the need for current or future employer sponsorship.

 

Experience from industrial automation, packaging, material handling, refrigeration, food & beverage, OEM machinery, system integration, or similar industries is highly relevant.

Nice to Have 

Experience with systems such as Studio 5000, FactoryTalk, PowerFlex, Siemens PLC/HMI, Ignition, SCADA platforms (Wonderware), industrial networks, or commissioning of automated equipment is an advantage, but we do not expect you to know everything.
